Webinar: How Jefferson County, Colorado aligns water and land use

In this webinar, recorded in June 2020, the interdisciplinary team members from Jefferson County, CO, describe two-years of progress in their community since participating in our September 2018 Growing Water Smart workshop. They discuss which new projects they’ve implemented, successful outcomes, and hurdles as they align water and land use in their community.

Update: In September, Jefferson County was awarded the 2020 Growing Water Smart Merit Award by the American Planning Association Colorado Chapter, Sonoran Institute, and Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy, for their three-part plan to integrate water into their land use planning. Starting with a Growing Water Smart technical assistance grant, they conducted a thorough policy and planning processes analysis, a Water Availability Analysis with Colorado Geological Survey, and culminated in an updated comprehensive master plan.
